Two members of Good Samaritan planned and completed Eagle Scout projects that will benefit the church this summer and for years to come.
A.K. of Troop 123, Edina, organized a scout crew to plant the hosta and lilies north of the East Entrance and to plant and water 28 trees in the near north woods area. The trees were replacements for trees cut down during the construction process and were required by the City of Edina. A.K.’s follow-through on watering of the trees for 8 weeks during this very dry summer was critical for the success of this project.
Jason of Troop 479, Eden Prairie, designed the benches that now are located in the amphitheater just north of Fellowship Hall and the Fireside Room. He then organized a scout crew to build, stain, and deliver the 16 benches. Jason decided to do this project for his Eagle Scout service project so that the congregation would have more comfortable seating during outdoor services. He also hopes these benches will be used for youth group activities and other events.
Both scouts coordinated their efforts with the Grounds Committee and chair Lu VanBenthuysen. Many thanks to A.K. and Jason for their efforts and good work!
