Play A Word Game and Help Feed The World

Here's a way you can improve your vocabulary while providing rice to feed hungry people of the world. As you play the word game, Free Rice will donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program, for every word you answer correctly. If you don't think this adds up you'll be surprised to know that on October 7, 2007, this hot internet game had 830 grains of rice. By November 14. 2007 participants had generated 1.897.053.670 grain of rice - that's almost 2 billion grains in less than 6 weeks. The warning that with the game reads: This game may make you smarter. It may improve your speaking, writing, thinking, grades, and job performance. You can play the word game or learn more about its purpose by visiting www.freerice.com.

Good Samaritan's Ministry With Youth Extends Beyond High School Graduation

Good Samaritan continues its ministry to youth long after they have graduated from high school. Good Samaritan keeps in touch with their college students through care packages and various special events and reunions. In order to continue a ministry to this age group, we need their postal and e-mail addresses. If you are a post-high school Good Sam alum, please contact Jean Elliott at 952-929-0049 to keep us informed of your address or send it to jean@good.org.

How Good Samaritan Youth Are Changing The World!

Last spring the youth in Good Samaritan’s Confirmation and Senior High Youth Group were offered an opportunity to make a difference in their world. In a project call LightQuest, those who chose to participate were challenged to identify a cause that they were passionate about, where they felt they wanted to make a difference, where they could shine their light into the world. Then, with a plan of action in hand, they were each funded with $100, the monies made available through a private investment. One of the rules of this project called for them to make their donation in person. The kids were also encouraged to volunteer some time if that was appropriate to their project. Seventeen Good Samaritan young people decided to take up the challenge!
